NZ vaccination

These charts show the current state of COVID-19 vaccination uptake in New Zealand. All percentages are calculated relative to the Health Service Utilisation (HSU) population figures provided by the Ministry of Health. The HSU data estimates that there are 5,000,491 people in New Zealand. In comparison, Stats NZ estimates that there are 5,126,300 people in New Zealand. The HSU population therefore undercounts the New Zealand population by about 126,000 people and vaccination rates calculated from the HSU population are likely to be higher than true vaccination rates.

First dose rates for population groups defined by age, ethnicity, and DHB area of residence

First dose rates for ‘suburbs’ (SA2 areas) by Regional Council area

Each dot represents an SA2 area. Areas with population less than 50 people have been excluded.

Second dose rates for population groups defined by age, ethnicity, and DHB area of residence

Standardised vaccination rates for ethnic groups

The age-standardised vaccination rate for an ethnic group is the vaccination rate for that group adjusted as if it had the same age distribution as the eligible population as a whole. The age- and DHB-standardised vaccination rate for an ethnic group is similar, and adjusts for both the distribution of ages and distribution of DHB areas where people in each ethnic group live.
